Care of our Bed Linen - from Between the Sheets
Bamboo Care      Satin Care       Velvet Care       PU Care      Leather Care         Latex Care

Silk care instructions

Pure silk is available as bed sheets in several different weaves and finishes. Our 100% pure SATIN SILK has that glossy Hollywood look you have seen in the movies. It is cool in summer – absorbing your body moisture as you sleep, and it has insulating properties to keep you warm in winter.

Silk is the most luxurious fibre in the world. The weaving of the fabric may contain minor irregularities, these are characteristic of fine silk yarn which gives the fabric its beauty, lustre and texture and should be not be treated as defects.

We only use the finest quality Mulberry Silk. This silk has a thread count of 400 and a weight of 19 momme – 86 gm per sq m.

We make our pure silk duvet covers, fitted sheets and pillow cases ‘oversized’ by approx 3% to allow the silk fibres to shrink slightly during its first 1/2 washes. This also closes the fibres together giving the silk strength. Please remember that silk is a most delicate fabric and must be treated with loving care to preserve its fine texture and softness. 1.

We recommend  either hand washing or dry cleaning the silk bedding for the first 2/3 times will preserve the gloss of the satin and will also soften the silk fibres. There will be some colour loss especially the darker tones, buy this will lessen over the initial launderings.

2.

We recommend hand washing at 30ºC. Our silk can be machined washed at 30ºC. TAKE CARE THAT YOUR MACHINE HAS A 30ºC DELICATES CYCLE and use a good Silk washing agent (many are available in good supermarkets). Never use detergents as these will make the silk fibres brittle. Fabric conditioner may be used in the final rinse. Top Tip  Add a drop of vinegar to the final rinse to aid removal of any washing agent and to give a super shine to the fabric.

3.

Most modern washing machines have a ‘Delicate’ cycle at 30ºC, ensure that this includes a reduced spin cycle . Do not bleach, scrub or wring the sheets.

4.

Shake off excess water from the sheets and air dry. We do not recommend tumble drying as this tends to heat and crease the fibres, again making the fibres brittle so shortening the life of the silk sheets.

5.

Do not dry in sunlight or near radiators. Sunlight will fade silk, especially deeper shades.

6.

Silk should not be allowed to get too soiled before cleaning, keep the sheets fresh and in good condition with regular cleaning.

7.

Satin Silk may also be dry cleaned. Choose your dry-cleaner carefully, preferably one that you have previously used for silk (or one that has been recommended to you) and make sure that they can clean silk properly. Incorrect dry cleaning can damage your sheets.

8.

When still damp cool iron on reverse with gentle steam, if required.

9.

Use a good mattress protector or soft blanket under the fitted sheet.

10.

Be aware that rough skin on heels , broken and chipped toe nails and even strong hairs on legs can cause excessive wear and pull threads on Silk Sheets.

11.

Top Tip 1 - Fitted sheets get the hardest wear in normal use. Try rotating the sheet after each washing ie. Head end to foot end and vice versa. This reduces wear at the foot end of your fitted sheet and can substantially prolong the life of your sheets.

12

Top Tip 2 – To remove protein based stains e.g. Blood use a light sprinkling of Baking Powder and moisten stain and it will come away.

TIP for ironing fitted sheets
Have a good mattress protector on your mattress and when you come to iron the fitted sheet, put the fitted sheet inside out on top of the mattress protector and iron the sheet in situ. That way you will get a good finish at the corners and down the sides of the sheet. When done, turn the sheet over to the right side.

You will have many years of delight in your silk sheets if you follow the instructions above.

Bamboo care instructions

Bamboo is a fantastic fabric with many useful properties. Bamboo is softer, stronger and 3 times more absorbent than Cotton. It is very absorbent and efficiently wicks away moisture keeping you cool in Summer and warm in Winter.

It has natural anti bacterial properties keeping your bed linen fresher for longer. Bamboo is a 100% sustainable resource. Our Bamboo fabric has a thread count of 250 but is so soft it feels like a 400 + cotton, it weighs 150 gm per sq m.

1.

Bamboo is a natural product. Our bed linen is made from 100% Bamboo. We oversize our product by 3% to allow for shrinkage in the first wash.

2.

Hand or machine wash at 40ºC with your normal detergent. No need for  fabric conditioner.

3.

Smooth out when taking out from the washing machine.

4.

Line Dry. If drying indoors we recommend part drying in the tumble dryer as the bamboo fabric is very absorbent and retains water.

5.

Iron when dry with a steam iron for best results.

6.

Each item has a wash care label stitched inside in an obvious place.

Bamboo Duvet and Topper  Care Instructions

1.

We recommend regular airing of this bedding, in mild sunshine without a cover. Air for 1 – 2 hours every 2 – 3 months to keep the bedding fresh. A little light beating with your hand will help re-plump the bamboo filling.

2.

We do not recommend washing the bamboo items regularly but very occasionally this can be done at 30C with mild detergent. If washing in a machine it must be large enough to hold that size item.
Most domestic washing machines are not generally large enough for sizes above a single. For larger sizes a specialist cleanng company should be found. After washing  squeeze gently, do not spin or wring and allow to dry before re-plumping.

3.

Should your duvet/topper become soiled – gently sponge the area with mild detergent, do not wring,  allow to dry before re-plumping

Bamboo Towels

These towels come to you pre-washed. We recommend however that they are laundered once at a low temperature before use. Slight shrinkage may occur once washed.

Careful handling needs to be taken with your new ‘Bamboo’ towel to prevent snagging of the loops (broken finger nails, rings, zips etc.) prior to its first laundering.

The towels should be laundered at 40°C (delicate wash), rinsed thoroughly, and then tumble dried if desired at a low to medium heat setting. We do not recommend the use of fabric softeners for towels, as they tend to block-up the holes in the fibres leading to reduced absorbency.

Satin care instructions

Our Poly-Satin is 100% polyester. This fabric has a thread count of 400 and  weighs 105gm per sq.m

1.

Each item has a wash care label stitched inside in an obvious place.

2.

Hand or machine wash at 40ºC normally, for heavy staining an occasional 60°C wash is fine using a good washing agent. Use fabric conditioner in the final rinse cycle. Spin but do not wring.

3.

Do not rub or use bleach. Sheets may be dry-cleaned.

4.

Line, tumble or air dry.

5.

Cool iron on reverse if necessary.

6.

Wash frequently for freshness and do not let sheets become too soiled.

Tips for long-term care.

Polyester satin is a man made fabric, chosen for its softness and wonderful drape. Use a good mattress protector or soft blanket beneath the bottom sheet. Do not let heels become rough or nails to become scratchy as this will pull threads. Only wear soft fabrics in bed, avoid braid and zips. If fabric starts to pill (bobble), remove bobbles with a battery operated de-fuzzer. (Available from Littlewoods  Extra - stores Nationwide). Follow the above instructions and your sheets will give you years of memorable nights.

Care of Hi-Gloss PU Bedding

PU High Gloss is made from Polyurethane bonded to Polyester Jersey. It is a very durable, fun fabric that is easily cared for. It will not be damaged by lubricants and massage oils. PU bed linen is durable, machine washable & minimum iron on reverse.

The fabric is resistant to oils and waterbased lubes but it is not waterproof, so if using excessive quantities of oils and lubes and when the sheet is "under pressure" from weight of bodies it is advisable to use bedding protection under the PU fitted sheet to protect your mattress from oil or water staining.

Machine Wash at 40ºC with a non-biological liquid/powder. Do not spin or wring.
Hang to dry or air tumble on a No Heat setting.

PU High Gloss can be pressed on the jersey side. Pressing duvet covers or p/cases put a smooth piece of fabric between the PU faces otherwise the heat will fuse them together. Alternatively use a sleeve press on single thickness PU. Make sure that the bedding is completely dry before storing.

If the shiny surface has become dulled after washing spray lightly with standard furniture polish and buff with a soft cloth. This will restore the High Gloss finish

Note: Duo Duvet Covers = PU one side/poly satin on other side
After sleeping with the Satin side of a Duo Duvet Cover next to your body air the cover for a few hours next day by throwing back the cover allowing body moisture to escape.

Cleaning and general care of leather

We use only deluxe half grain pigmented leather in our products  to allow for more uniform colour and texture for beautiful bedding.

Leather is almost indestructible and will provide long service if cared for. Comfortable, soft and appealing to touch, it mellows with age.
Both warm in winter and cool in summer, the fibre structure in leather allows both ventilation and evaporation.

Do not allow leather to become too soiled before cleaning. We suggest you keep Baby wipes to hand as these will clean and impart a lotion to the leather at the same time. For the regular, easy care of your sheets we recommend Leather Quick Clean by Naf , it keeps the sheets clean, supple and in best condition.

If seams get very soiled, a gentle sponging along the seam lines, with a wet soft cloth and a mild non-detergent soap. Lightly rinse off and pat dry. Always finish with the Leather Quick Clean as above.

Dry completely, (not in direct sunlight, on or near a radiator) If the leather is not allowed to dry completely mildew may occur.

Never scrub or wring leather.

Leather can be pressed from the reverse side with an iron if wrinkled. Set iron to no more than nylon/rayon and use a smooth pressing cloth under the iron and to the reverse side of the leather in order to prevent ‘shining’.

Conditioning Leather

To keep leather in a soft and supple way we suggest you condition the leather sheets every few months with a leather conditioner, this lubricates the leather fibres and stops the leather becoming dry and stiff. There are many brands available but we would recommend Leather Balsam from NAF, an excellent conditioner for leather bed sheets. Follow the simple instructions about 2/3 times per year depending on how frequently the bedding is used.

For people who perspire a lot while sleeping (which will result in white marks caused by the salt in the sweat) we would urge the use of the conditioner before the first sleep.

The leather conditioner will help to keep the natural satin lustre of leather, will help to repel water, spotting and drying out.

Dry Cleaning Leather

It is possible to dry clean leather bedding but you must choose a specialist dry cleaning agent who will accept responsibility for their own decision as to which method of cleaning will give the best

results. There are 3 methods of dry cleaning leather –

1. Perchlorethylene
2. Hydrocarbon

3. Aqueous (Water Based)

There is not one method which is best; it is down to the expertise of the cleaner to be able to select the most appropriate method in relation to cleaning.

Care of Latex sheets
Our products are made from the finest quality Latex Sheeting. Latex is a natural product, please follow the instructions below to keep the sheets in good condition. Mineral oils and solvents destroy latex, such as hand creams, oils and even leather goods (the leather contains natural oils) . Use only water-based lubricants/massage oils. We do not recommend the use of Nurex for use with our latex sheets.
Washing/Cleaning
In normal use wipe over the sheets whilst on the bed using warm water with a few drops of antibacterial soap. No detergents
For thorough cleaning.

1. Hand Wash in warm water with a little soap based cleaner e.g. Fairy Liquid, Gum>ol, or baby shampoo. DO NOT USE DETERGENTS

2. Dry Flat. Dust lightly with talcum powder which gives a dull finish.

To achieve a more shiny finish, we recommend

    a. Latex Cleaner/Polish , antibacterial.  Available from us.

    b. Silicon based super shine VIVISHINE from Ebay.

Polish gently with a very soft cloth, small areas at a time. Do not let polish sit on latex for more than 3 seconds before wiping off.

We prefer not to use of Silicon Spray polish it can leave the sheets with a sticky finish.

3. Do not tumble dry, bleach, iron or dry clean.

General care : Recommendations
Latex rubber can discolour and eventually perish with prolonged exposed to heat, sunlight, and light with a high U V content.

We recommend a light dusting with talcum powder before storage in a dark place.

Do not leave latex on or near radiators, do not keep in damp conditions.

Keep sharp objects away, even finger nails. Latex is flammable !

Note:- Duo Duvet Covers

After sleeping with the Satin side of a Duo Duvet Cover next to your body  air the cover for a
few hours next day by throwing back the cover to allow any body moisture to escape.
