Our Bamboo Bed linen is made in the UK from the new 100% Bamboo viscose fabric. It is soft, luxurious and aids deep, restful sleep. It may seem unlikely but the woody plant that we all know can make a luxurious, soft fabric ! It is produced in a similar way to other natural plant based fabrics. The plant material is pulped releasing the cellulose. The pulp is then refined dissolving the bamboo cellulose into a viscose solution. Then the process mimics the way that the silkworm transforms the cellulose of the mulberry tree into fine filaments. The liquid cellulose is forced through metal spinnerets to create a fine filament performing just like a silkworm spinneret. The filaments of bamboo cellulose fibre threads harden in a hardening bath of water alcohol solution and are later spun into a soft yarn and then woven into fabric of luxurious quality. We launched our Bamboo Bed Linen after a long search for exactly the right quality to meet our exacting specification. Here at Between the Sheets that means not only careful research but also visits to investigate the growing, manufacturing and weaving so that we can be absolutely sure about the provenance of our products . Jane Allen - our Design Director has made many trips to source our fabrics - throughout Europe, India and China. Bamboo from China led her to make an extensive tour to see the complete manufacture of our Bamboo fabric from Plant to Fabric ![]() Jane Allen with DuRong our contact in China visiting the “Bamboo Sea” Jane visited the extraordinary “Bamboo Sea” in Sichuan Province. This huge area of Bamboo cultivation covers an area of 120sqkm of mountain slopes at an elevation from 600 to 1000m. Nearby this ancient Bamboo forest commercial Bamboo growing takes place. Jane also visited the plant in Hebei Province where the Bamboo is pulped and the Lyocell process creates the bamboo fibre. This process is conducted in a closed loop recycling 99.5% of all compounds used in the process. This modern plant operates under strict environmental protocols has been awarded an ISO 14001 Environment Management System Attestation. The Bamboo Viscose fibre has gained Oeko-Tex Standard 100 product class 1 for baby articles. This is an internationally accepted quality and safety standard. The Bamboo is grown organically and has an OCIA International Organic Certificate. The OCIA is accredited by The International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM). Finally Jane visited the weaving company, one of our regular suppliers in China. We have worked with this weaving company for a number of years and they assisted us in developing the special weave for our bamboo that makes Between the Sheets Bamboo bed linen soft and strong with a special silky lustre. 100% Bamboo Viscose Fibre Special weave for softness and durability 250 thread count feels like 1000 thread count cotton Grown Organically, free of Chemicals Silky Soft and 3 times more absorbent than Cotton wicking away moisture during the night Ideal for those with skin conditions such as eczema Naturally anti static and highly dust mite resistant Our Bamboo Bed Linen is made oversized to allow for a 3% shrinkage in the first wash A Renewable Resource What our customers say:- It is a wonderful fabric with the mixture of the soft sheen of silk with the more robust fibre structure of cotton.
